Corey Mayer

Corey Mayer joined the Villanova coaching staff in 2021 and is entering her fourth season on the staff in 2024. Since Mayer's arrival the Wildcats have improved significantly earning a BIG EAST Tournament berth in 2023. She came to Villanova after serving her alma mater James Madison as a volunteer assistant coach during the spring 2021 season. Mayer graduated from JMU in 2019 after earning first team All-CAA honors and being chosen for the NFHCA Division I Senior Game in 2018. She also has playing experience in the English Premier League and has coached at both the club level and in the collegiate ranks.
 
Mayer is a certified USA Field Hockey Level II coach who began her coaching career as a student assistant on the James Madison staff in 2019. She returned to the Dukes in the spring of 2021 and helped the team tally a 6-2 record while winning the CAA regular season title and advancing to the conference championship game. The native of Huntingdon Valley, Pa. has also coached at Mystx Field Hockey in Feasterville, Pa.
 
During her collegiate career Mayer was a midfielder/defender and played in 73 games for James Madison while tallying career totals of 14 goals, eight assists and 36 points. She scored three career game-winning goals and helped JMU tally 45 wins with a .592 winning percentage during her career.
 
Mayer was selected to the USA Women’s National Development Team in January 2020 after previously training at the US Virginia High Performance site and being selected for the Young Women’s National Championship each year from 2016-19. In 2020 she played for Holcombe Hockey Club in the English Premier League.
 
Mayer graduated from James Madison in 2019 and earned her Master’s in Elementary Education there in 2020.
