2023: Played in 11 games and had 23 tackles and one tackle for loss…Tallied seven tackles, including four solo stops at UCF…Registered five solo tackles, one assisted stop and a tackle for loss at Albany…Posted two solo tackles against Lehigh and Towson…Had two tackles at South Dakota State in the NCAA quarterfinals.
2022: Played in all 11 games and tallied 62 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and half a sack…Recorded a season-high 11 tackles against both Maine and Richmond…Posted 2.5 tackles for loss and half a sack at Richmond to go with the 11 tackles…Made nine tackles versus Lehigh…Registered seven tackles and a forced fumble at Towson.
2021: Played in all 13 games … Tallied 49 tackles, including one tackle for loss … Had one fumble recovery and one interception;
Lehigh (9/4): Recorded one solo stop in a 47-3 win in the season opener;
Bucknell (9/11): Registered four tackles;
Penn State (9/25): Credited with five tackles, including a tackle for loss, against the Nittany Lions;
James Madison (10/9): Posted a career-high eight tackles versus the Dukes;
UAlbany (10/16): Had three solo tackles;
Rhode Island (10/23): Recorded five tackles and a fumble recovery in a 44-0 victory;
William & Mary (10/30): Tied a career high with eight tackles;
Elon (11/6): Made two assisted tackles;
Stony Brook (11/13): Had one solo stop;
Delaware (11/20): Credited with one solo tackle and two assisted stops to help Villanova win the annual “Battle of the Blue” rivalry game against the Blue Hens;
Holy Cross (12/3): Registered three tackles and an interception in the second round of the FCS playoffs to help the Wildcats advance;
South Dakota State (12/11): Made four solo tackles and two assisted stops in a quarterfinal playoff game.
2020 (Spring 2021): Earned playing time in all four games and tallied 15 tackles on the year, including nine solo stops and six assisted tackles … Had one tackle for loss and two pass breakups;
Stony Brook (3/6): Registered a pass breakup in his collegiate debut in the season-opening win over the Seawolves;
Rhode Island (3/13): Recorded six total tackles, including a season-high five solo stops and one assisted tackle to go along with a pass breakup in the home opener;
Maine (4/3): Credited with a season-high seven tackles (three solo, four assisted) … Had a tackle for a loss of two yards;
Delaware (4/17): Tallied one solo tackle and one assisted stop in the season finale versus the Blue Hens.
Caravel Academy: Earned a total of seven varsity letters, including four in football as a safety and running back; two in track & field as a sprinter; and one in wrestling … Garnered first team all-state honors as a running back, defensive back and kick returner … Three-time all-conference selection on both offense and defense … As a senior scored 32 total touchdowns while amassing 2,300 all-purpose yards … Also made 104 total tackles on defense, including eight tackles for loss … Achieved Honor Roll status academically all four years.
Personal: Born 5/13/02 in Chesapeake City, Md. … One of two sons of Rex and Whitney Potter … Has an older brother, Evan (26) … Chose to attend Villanova because it felt like home and he had a comfort level with the coaching staff and the campus … Has yet to declare a major.
