John Shackleton completed his seventh season as Villanova's Strength and Conditioning Coach in 2018-19. In his tenure he has been part of a staff that has led the Wildcats to 211 victories, seven NCAA Tournament appearances, five BIG EAST Tournament regular season titles, four BIG EAST Tournament championships and two NCAA national championships (2016 and 2018).

Along the way Shackleton has been praised for his innovative approach to player development and nutrition. He was featured in a segment on NBC's "Today" show in March 2019.

Shackleton works closely with the coaching staff on nutrition, strength training and recovery.

This is Shackleton's second stint at Villanova. In 2010 he was an assistant strength coach with Villanova Football.and then moved on to serve as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Pittsburgh. He also served on the strength and conditioning staff at Princeton University.

Shackleton earned BS Magna Cum Laude Kinesiology degree in 2008 from Temple University and an MS Exercise Science diploma in 2010 from George Washington University.

He makes his home in Newtown, Pa., with his wife Beth and two sons.Â
