Started all 20 games for Villanova at his customary spot on the outside of the back four ... Notched a career best five points, including two goals ... Produced 15 shots, including seven on goal ... Picked up his first goal of the campaign in a 5-1 season opening win at Manhattan on Aug. 24 ... Came up with his second goal to conclude the regular season in a 4-0 win over Pittsburgh on Oct. 27 at the VU Soccer Complex.
2011
Picked up the first two assists of his college career ... Started all 21 games for Villanova on the outside of the back line ... Attempted 12 shots.
2010
Started all 19 games for the Wildcats... Generated four shots with one on goal...His only goal came in a 3-1 victory over DPU on Oct. 2.
2009
Started 18 of the 19 games he appeared as a defender ... Picked up his first college point with an assist in a 1-1 tie against St. John[apos]s on Oct. 3.
PERSONAL
Parents are Lin Auld-Whalen and Jack Whalen ... Siblings include sister Alex, a 2007 Villanova graduate who was a standout goalkeeper for a nationally ranked Wildcats field hockey team, sister Kaitlin (21), a soccer player at Colgate, and Christopher (17) ... A two-sport standout (soccer and basketball) at Ridge High School ... A four year varsity starter in soccer who led his team with 12 goals as a senior captain in 2008 ... Named first team all-conference, all-county and all-area as a senior ... Named the Courier News player of the week during 2008 and was a two-time Newark Star Ledger 'player to watch' as well ... Played club soccer for PDA U-18 Academy ... Was a three-year starter at point guard in basketball and first team all-conference choice as a junior and senior ...Served as senior class treasurer and two years as a class senator .
