Biography

A few short months after graduating from Villanova, Kyle McCarthy returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach in August 2013. In this capacity, the former Wildcat central defender assists in all areas of coaching, including on-field teaching, player development, recruiting and program organization.

McCarthy enjoyed a stellar four year career for the Wildcats. He helped anchor a back wall that established a new school record for shutouts in the 2011 campaign with a 1.03 goals against average and played a key role in VU[apos]s first two post-season wins, triumphs at Notre Dame and USF as a junior in 2011. He started every game he appeared in at Villanova, including all 20 as the Wildcats rolled to a 12-6-2 record in his senior season of 2012.

'Kyle was part of my first real recruiting class here at Villanova,' stated head coach Tom Carlin upon McCarthy[apos]s introduction to the staff. 'To be able to say that after four years he wanted to come back and accept this position speaks to what we have accomplished in the last four years. When you look at the relationships and the teamwork that we have shown, it[apos]s just been awesome. It[apos]s great to have a guy join us who knows the system, knows how we want to attack and defend, and understands our personnel.'

McCarthy is a native of Basking Ridge, N.J.
