Villanova, Pa.- Sophomore forwards Stephanie Vrettos (West Long Branch, N.J.) and Kelley Beine (Medford, N.J.) each scored a pair of goals as Villanova rolled to a 5-0 victory over the La Salle Explorers on Wednesday night at Villanova Stadium.

Vrettos began the scoring at the 24:02 mark of the first half when she converted a pass from senior Mary Krauss (Swarthmore, Pa.) into a goal. Junior Nicole DiMaggio (West Chester, Pa.) also received an assist on the goal.

The score remained 1-0 through intermission. But early in the second half Vrettos netted her second goal of the night and fifth of the season to provide the Wildcats with a 2-0 cushion. Krauss pushed the lead to 3-0 at the 18:13 mark with her twelfth goal of the 1999 season. Beine then closed out the scoring with goals at the 9:25 and 3:18 marks of the second half.

Goalie Meghan Helwig enjoyed a relatively light workload in posting her fifth shutout of the season. The freshman from Basking Ridge, N.J., made four saves.

Villanova (10-6 overall, 2-2 Big East) next sees action on Saturday night when Big East rival Boston College comes to Villanova Stadium.
