A balanced offensive effort spurred Villanova to a 3-1 victory over Lehigh on Saturday afternoon in a game played in Bethlehem, Pa.
Junior Nicole DiMaggio (West Chester, Pa.) opened the scoring in the first half when her shot found the back of the net. The goal was DiMaggio's 16th of the season.
Sophomore Stephanie Vrettos (West Long Branch, N.J.) continued her late season surge with her seventh goal of the campaign to add to Villanova's lead. Senior Katie Craig (Rydal, Pa.) gave the 'Cats their third goal before Lauren Ledbetter got Lehigh on the scoreboard just before halftime.
Goalie Meghan Helwig protected Villanova's lead in the second half and ended the day with six saves.
Villanova (12-7 overall, 2-3 Big East) concludes the regular season on Sunday afternoon at Villanova Stadium. Local rival St. Joseph's (11-6 overall) provides the opposition on Senior Day.
