At the CWPA Tournament held at George Washington University on April 4-5, the Villanova women's water polo team won two of their four games, tallying victories over Georgetown and Richmond. With the two victories, the Wildcats record now stands at 8-8 on the season.

Against No. 15 nationally ranked Princeton on April 3, Villanova hung in against the Tigers, but went on to lose by a 7-2 margin. Leading the Wildcats were sophomore Bridgitt Bayster and senior Stacee Jones who each had one goal. Bayster also led the Cats with five steals on the afternoon.

Villanova would redeem themselves one day later, however, as they used an offensive bombardment to defeat Georgetown 15-1. Freshman Carrie Boyle came alive putting together the best came of her young career, scoring a game-high four goals and adding six steals. Adding to the Wildcats charge was Bayster, sophomore Joei Merhefka and freshmen Katherine Kaufold and Eve McCarney who had two goals apiece.

Villanova kept up its winning ways in their next contest rolling over the Richmond Spiders 13-1. Boyle led the Wildcats with a career-high six goals, while Kathryn Petersen and Marhefka each scored twice. In goals for Villanova, senior Kara Zogby posted the win with five saves in net.

The Wildcats kept the game close as they were down only 5-4 at the half against No. 11 nationally ranked Maryland. The Terps proved too strong, however, as they went on to a 13-5 victory. Leading Villanova, was Bayster, who had a team-high three goals and four steals.

Villanova will resume play on April 18-19, traveling the Princeton University for the Mid-Atlantic Division Championships.
