Three Wildcats Honored by Big Five

Three members of the 1998-99 Villanova women's basketball team were honored at the Philadelphia Big Five women's basketball awards banquet held on Wednesday, April 8. The banquet was held at Williamson's Restaurant on top of the GSB Building.

Junior forward Jenea Skeeters was named to the Big Five first team, while sophomore center Brandi Barnes earned second team distinction. Junior guard Mary Beth Snell was selected to the All Academic Team.

Skeeters started all 28 games this past season and averaged a team-leading 11.9 ppg., to go with 4.5 rpg., 2.3 apg and 1.1 spg. Barnes started 27 of 28 games for the Wildcats and averaged 9.9 ppg., and a team-high 5.8 rpg. Barnes also tallied a team best 20 blocked shots. Snell, a junior guard, is currently carrying a 3.3 grade point average in marketing. Snell finished the season second on the team in three-point field goals with 19.

Villanova registered a 14-14 overall record in 1998-99, including a 3-1 mark in Philadelphia Big Five play which placed the Wildcats second in the City Series standings.
