November 7, 1998 - Villanova, Pa. - With all five starters scoring in double figures for the second consecutive game, the Villanova Wildcats pounded BC Istroenergo, a touring international squad from Slovakia, 117-54.
The Wildcats jumped on BC Istroenergo from the opening tip, racing out to a 28-14 lead before the contest was ten minutes old. Sophomore guard Jermaine Medley led the assault with a pair of 3-point baskets. On the night Medley missed only one of his five attempts from beyond the arc and tied senior guard Howard Brown for scoring honors with 18 points.
On the night the Wildcats shot 60.8 percent from the floor and had 32 assists.
"After our first game I felt we had to get better defensively," said Villanova head coach Steve Lappas. "Tonight I thought we were better at that end of the floor. "I was also happy with the way our guys moved the basketball. Anytime you can have 32 assists, you are doing good things offensively."
Center Rafal Bigus grabbed nine rebounds for the Wildcats as Villanova outrebounded BC Istroenergo 47-17.
Villanova opens the regular season on Nov. 16 at the Pavilion against George Mason University of the Colonial Athletic Association.
