Men's Basketball Defeats Towson, 87-75

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Michael Bradley had 25 points and Brooks Sales had a career-high 21 points to lead Villanova past Towson 87-75 Sunday night.

The Wildcats (2-1), shooting 64 percent coming into the game, hit on 34 of 58 shots (59 percent) and in the first half connected on 12 of 13 attempts.

Bradley, a Kentucky transfer, was 10 for 12 and on the season is now 32 for 40. Sales missed only one of his eight shots, and has connected on 17 of 22 attempts this year.

Leading 15-13, Villanova went on a 18-3 run with five different players scoring, and took a 33-15 lead on a 3-point play by Ricky Wright. The Wildcats were ahead 42-29 at halftime, led by Bradley, who had 14 points.

Villanova took its biggest lead, 50-31, on a 3-point play by Sales with 17:28 left in the game. However, the Tigers rallied behind the long-range shooting of Gerald Weatherspoon to close to 65-55 at the 9:55 mark. They could never get closer than 10 points.

Gary Buchanan added 18 points for Villanova, while Weatherspoon had 14 for Towson, including four of four 3-point shots.

Towson, of the America East Conference, is now 0-3.
