Sept. 5, 2000

Villanova, Pa.----- Villanova (2-1) scored four unanswered goals in the second half as they defeated the visting Lafayette Leopards (0-1) by a score of 4-2.

With 3:48 remaining in the contest, senior Nicole DiMaggio (West Chester, Pa.) collected a rebound off the pads of Lafayette goalkeeper Amy Cohen (12 saves) and scored her record breaking, 47th career goal. DiMaggio's fourth goal of the season proved to be the game-winner, securing a win for the Wildcats and making her the all-time leading goal scorer in Villanova history becoming only the second player in school history to surpass the 100-point mark.

Junior Stephanie Vrettos (West Long Branch, N.J.) cashed in with a career night for the Wildcats factoring in on three of four, second half goals. Vrettos began the second half scoring with 27:58 remaining when she tipped a shot by classmate Krissy Malchitsky (Perkiomenville, Pa.).

With 11:08 remaining in the contest, Vrettos and Malchitsky connected again when Vrettos gathered a centering pass and beat Lafayette's Cohen for her second goal of the evening.

Freshman Leah Lisausky (Morrisville, N.J.) capped Villanova's four-goal run with 2:38 remaining in the contest. Lisausky, a newcomer to the Wildcats, has three goals on the season in her first three games at the collegiate level.

Lafayette jumped on the board first when freshman Jennifer Stone found the back of the net off a penalty corner. Jill Gulotta and Beth Gulotta were credited with assists on Stone's goal. Beth Gulotta added one more goal for the Leopards with 2:24 left to play.

Villanova returns to action on Tuesday, September 12, when the Pennsylvania Quakers travel to the Main Line to face-off against the Wildcats. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Villanova Stadium.
