Villanova Stadium - Villanova, Pa.New Haven head coach, Darren Rizzi:"This is unbelievable. The president of the University and told me it was the biggest regular season win in the school's history and I would have to agree with him."
"We got back to Newark Airport at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday morning on a red-eye trip and had to prepare for an undefeated first place team in the Atlantic 10 in four days. I didn't play and I was dying (on the sidelines). We really lost a night's sleep on Saturday."
"We watched the tapes last week and they (Villanova) always comes out and sets the tempo. That was the biggest thing. We came out tonight and got some momentum early. We accomplished a lot of things we set out to do tonight."
Villanova head coach, Andy Talley:
"This is not the team you want to play anytime. They are very, very dangerous and they will come in and play the best game of their life. We just came off two emotional wins and to say we were flat would be an understatement. I really give them a lot of credit. (New Haven Head Coach) Darren Rizzi really did a great job against us. I told our team last week after the James Madison game, if we turn the ball over five times we will lose the New Haven game. That's exactly what we did. We turned it over five times, squandered opportunities and just did not take advantage of some of the things we had out there."
"We are a team right now that cannot rely on one player. We seemed to be one-dimensional tonight and we just couldn't get things going."
"The biggest concern that I have right now is that I thought I had a fairly mature team that understood what the drill was. They obviously didn't get the message. So, obviously I didn't do a good enough job and I didn't get the coaches to believe enough that we were playing against a football team that could beat us."
"It is an incredibly disappointing loss for us. I think they did a good job. We blew some opportunities. We were flat. We did not play with enthusiasm and we didn't play Villanova football."
"To sum it up frankly, this is one of the worst losses, if not the worse loss that I have had at Villanova. It is so disappointing that we would come out after we had the momentum being 4-0, we were on a good run and we are nationally ranked. We played the game with no excitement or enthusiasm."
"They have a good football team and I think their coaches did a very good job preparing them, especially coming all the way back from Washington. They flat out won the game and did a good job. They deserve a lot of credit."
Villanova wide receiver, Murle Sango:
"I really don't know what to say about it. It catches me by surprise. All we can do right now is move on. This is not the end of the season. We now have to concentrate on Maine. They always play us well up there. We need to straighten this out and find out what went wrong. We have a good week of practice and move on. We can't focus on this loss and let it bring us down. We need to move forward and look on to the next game."
