Boston College scored the first two goals of the afternoon to take hold of a 2-0 lead in the first half of play. Eagles junior Kim French assisted on classmate Kim Desto's goal at the 20:50 mark to open the scoring for B.C. Nearly 13 minutes later, French scored a goal of her own lifting the ball up and over Villanova's goalkeeper, Meghan Helwig (Basking Ridge, N.J.), for her eighth goal of the season. Junior Virgina Drozd assisted on the play.

Villanova cut the Eagles lead to 2-1 with 1:48 remaining in the first half. Mayhart dribbled through the Boston College defense and passed to senior Stephanie Vrettos (West Long Branch, N.J.) who gathered the pass and fired a shot past the Eagles goalkeeper, Lauren Hill.

The Wildcats evened the score at 2-2 at the 19:52 mark in the second half on a goal by Mayhart. Mayhart collected a rebound to the right of the cage and lifted the ball past Hill for her fifth goal of her rookie campaign.

Boston College wasted little time quickly regained the lead three minutes later on a goal by junior Veronica Morgan. Morgan's second goal of the season proved to be the game-winner.

Eagles freshman Kerri Kulesza scored her first collegiate goal to give Boston College a 4-2 advantage with 5:32 left to play.

Hill proved to be the deciding factor in the contest making 12 saves in goal, eight in the second half. She received some assistance protecting the Eagles goal from Drozd who was credited with a defensive save late in the second half. B.C. leads the all-time series 13-5 winning the last nine meetings.
