Men's Basketball Comes Back To Defeat Dayton, 59-57

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) - Sophomore guard Reggie Bryant hit an 11-foot baseline jumper with 0.7 of a second left in the game to give Villanova a 59-57 comeback victory over Dayton on Saturday night.

Gary Buchanan tied his career-high 30 points for Villanova (2-0), which trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half. Yuanta Holland had 19 points for Dayton (2-1) and Ramond Marshall had 11.

After a 3-point shot by Buchanan gave the Wildcats a 55-52 edge with 2:24 to play, Brooks Hall hit a layup, then a 3-pointer with 1:24 remaining to give the Flyers a 57-55 lead.

Andrew Sullivan's follow shot tied the score with 52 seconds to go, and 20 seconds later, Dayton turned the ball over. Following a time-out, Villanova worked the ball until finding Bryant to hit his game-winning shot.

Dayton held a 44-31 advantage with 14:22 to play, before the Wildcats went on a 19-6 run, 9 of the points by Buchanan, and moved ahead 50-48 on two foul shots by B.J. Johnson.

Dayton controlled play in the first half and held a 33-19 lead at halftime, converting 12 of 28 shots, while Villanova made only 6 of 24, and missed all 11 of its 3-point attempts.
