Men's Basketball Falls To Miami

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) - Darius Rice had 28 points on 10-for-16 shooting as Miami rolled over Villanova 80-62 Saturday night.

James Jones had 17 points and John Salmons and Marcus Barnes each had 11 for the Hurricanes (14-10, 6-7 Big East), who have won four of their last five. Miami converted a season-high 13-for-25 (52 percent) from beyond the three-point arc in the contest, led by Jones who was 4-for-6.

Michael Bradley had 16 points and a career-high 16 rebounds and Ricky Wright and Gary Buchanan each scored 10 for the Wildcats (15-9, 6-6), who turned the ball over 23 times and had a three-game win streak snapped. Villanova averages 20.3 turnovers a game.

Miami led for almost the entire game, opening up a 17-point advantage several times in the second half. During one stretch, Villanova turned the ball over four straight times and were scoreless for 3:56 as the Hurricanes pulled out to a 68-51 lead. Miami was 15-for-23 (65 percent) from the field in the second half.

The Hurricane went on a 12-4 run at the end of the first half and took a 33-24 lead on a reverse dunk by Rice on the fastbreak. A three-pointer by Medley pulled the Wildcats to within six at the break. Villanova turned the ball over 12 times in the half and Rice paced all scorers with 16.
