Villanova, PA - On Monday, March 5, the Big East Conference announced that Villanova junior center Michael Bradley had been selected unanimously to the All-Big East First Team. Other unanimous first team selections included, Boston College's Troy Bell and Notre Dame's Troy Murphy. Rounding out the first team were Syracuse's Preston Shumpert and West Virginia's Calvin Bowman.
Bradley, a 1999-00 transfer for Kentucky, wasn't even playing in the Big East Conference two years ago. After sitting out a year due to NCAA rules, Bradley stepped into the limelight of the Big East Conference and thrived. Currently, the junior from Worcester, Mass. is averaging 21.8 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, helping the Wildcats to a 17-11 record and 8-8 conference mark. In conference games only, Bradley has had his way posting even better marks of 22.3 points and 10.8 rebounds.
Bradley has enjoyed his first season at Villanova and in the Big East Conference. The national spotlight and his impressive play on the court have caused many to take notice of the Wildcats rising star. Bradley has already been named a finalist for two of the biggest awards given in college basketball, the Naismith Award and the Wooden Award, both given to the National Player of the Year. He was recently named an ESPN.COM Third-Team All-American and a member of Dick Vitale's Super Seven.
Bradley will attempt to keep Villanova's season alive on Wednesday, March 7, as he leads the Wildcats against the West Virginia Mountaineers in the first round of the Big East Conference Tournament at noon.
