Wildcats Lose Heartbreaker To Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Brooks Hall scored 19 points and made the game-winning shot at the buzzer to lead Dayton to an 80-78 victory over Villanova on Sunday night.

Ramod Marshall also scored 19 points.

Dayton (7-2) led 76-72 when two 3-pointers by Gary Buchanan put Villanova (5-4) ahead by two points with only 39 seconds left to play. Mark Jones tied the game at 78 with a jumper at the 22-second mark.

Buchanan then drove through the middle, but turned the ball over to Dayton with eight seconds remaining. Keith Waleskowski took the ball down the court and passed it to Jones, who saved it from going out of bounds and threw it to Hall.

Hall banked the ball, which dropped into the net just as the buzzer sounded.

Dayton dominated the game, leading by as many as 15 points in the first half. The Flyers led Villanova 42-31 at halftime and stayed ahead the rest of the way until Buchanan made his final 3-pointer.

Buchanan, who was 5-of-11 in 3-point shooting, led Villanova with 21 points. Randy Foye added 20.
