Wildcats Drop Match to Brown, 11-2

Feb. 17, 2002

On the final day of the Princeton Invitational on Sunday, February 17, the Villanova Wildcats dropped their third straight match to No. 19 Brown University by a final score of 11-2. With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 0-3 on the 2002 season.

Villanova found itself down early after Brown jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead after the first quarter. After both teams were held scoreless in the second quarter, the Bears found the back of the net yet again at the 6:09 mark in the third quarter to take a commanding 7-0 lead. The Wildcats would get on the board with 1:57 to go in the third off a goal by freshman Aimee Corsiglia but the advantage was too much for the 'Cats to overcome. Brown would eventually go on for the 11-2 victory.

Senior Erin Agee scored the Wildcats' other goal in the match, tallying her fourth goal of the season and adding an assist. Three different Brown players each posted two goals a piece for the Bears. Senior Carly Sproul led the Wildcats in goal recording three saves and four steals.

Villanova will get back into action on Thursday, February 28, when they travel to Princeton, N.J. to square off against the Princeton Tigers at 8:00 p.m.
