On Saturday, March 9, the Villanova women's water polo team traveled to Washington, D.C. to take part in the George Washington Invitational. The 'Cats dropped all three of their matches including a 10-5 loss to Bucknell, a 15-7 loss to Princeton and a 15-5 loss to host George Washington. With the losses, the Wildcats drop to 1-11 on the season.
Against Bucknell, freshman Ellen Howe led the Villanova effort with two goals and an assist for the 'Cats. Rounding out the scoring were senior Erin Agee, sophomore Jennifer Rosick and junior Maria Greshock with one goal each. In net, Carly Sproul made five blocks while rookie Denise Hanes came in to record one save.
In game two versus the Tigers of Princeton, Agee led the Wildcat cause with three goals. Freshman Aimee Corsiglia found the back of the net twice while Greshock and owe each added one goal each.
Against host George Washington in the nightcap, five different Wildcats scored in the 15-5 loss. Senior Janine Kusza, Rosick, Howe, Corsiglia and Greshock all recorded one goal a piece.
Villanova will return to the pool on Saturday, March 16 when they travel to Hartwick, N.Y. to take part in the Hartwick Invitational. The Wildcats will face host Hartwick College at 12:00 p.m. and Arizona State at 3:30 p.m.
