Happy at Home: This season Villanova has faired well at home in the Pavilion going 4-0 entering tonight's against the Hokies. It is on the road that the 'Cats have found trouble as they are currently on a road losing streak of nine games extending to last season. Tonight's victory from the comforts of the Pavilion brings the 'Cats overall record to 8-6.
Theft on the Main Line: The Wildcats mimicked pickpockets against the Hokies as they set a season high (14) steals. Villanova was led in the category by Derrick Snowden with three along with Allan Ray who also had three key steals. Against Dayton the 'Cats had 12 steals which was the season high prior to tonight.
Rebounding Edge: The Wildcats once again dominated the glass with a 10 rebound margin, 48-38. On the season Villanova average nine more rebounds a game than their opponents. Ricky Wright led the 'Cats with 14 boards and the team as a whole grabbed a dominating 20 offensive rebounds.
Spreading the Wealth: Villanova shared the load against Virginia Tech with five players reaching double figures. This marks the first time the 'Cats have had five in double figures this season. There have been four games this season in which four Wildcats have reached double figures and the team has gone 2-2 in those games. Leading the way for Villanova was Gary Buchanan and Randy Foye with 18 and 21 points respectively. Randy Foye's 21 points mark's a career high for the freshman.
First Half Frenzy: Against Virginia Tech the Wildcats easily had their most productive first half of the 2002-03 season as they turned up the pace and poured in 48 points. Villanova connected on 16-35 shots and a staggering 5-10 from three. Previously the highest point production in a first half for the 'Cats was 36 against both Michigan State and Loyola Marymount in the Great Alaska Shootout.
