Oct. 23, 2003

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Fred Hill, now in his third season at Villanova, has been elevated to the position of associate head coach, it was announced today by head coach Jay Wright.

A Verona, N.J., native, Hill has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an assistant coach at the collegiate level. He began his career in 1981 at his alma mater, Montclair State, and later served seven years at Fairleigh Dickinson University, the last three (1995-98) as associate head coach. From 1998-2001, he served alongside head coach Tommy Amaker at Seton Hall University, where he was part of the staff that guided the Pirates to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in 2000.

Hill has been recognized by several media outlets for his skill. He was the subject of a 2002 Philadelphia Daily News profile and Lindy's College Basketball described him as "an absolutely wired recruiter in the Northeast who helped deliver monster recruiting classes to Seton Hall and the Wildcats."

"Fred Hill is a complete basketball coach who is playing an important role in what we are building here at Villanova," said Wright. "He is a great teacher and his experience is invaluable to us. He is the senior member of our staff and deserves this recognition."
