Four Wildcats Selected to All-Philadelphia Field Hockey Team

Dec. 4, 2003

VILLANOVA, PA. - On Wednesday, Dec. 3, the Division I field hockey schools of Philadelphia - Drexel, La Salle, Penn, Temple, St. Joe's and Villanova - announced the selection of the 2003 All-Philadelphia Field Hockey Team. Four Wildcats, Leah Lisausky, Christina Lugones, Vanessa Pizzulli and Rory Rogers were named to the 16-member squad.

The 16 players were selected by a vote of the city's head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players. Villanova's four selections were the most of any school.

Rogers, a sophomore forward from Rosemont, Pa., is the only one of the four that is a repeat selection. She finished the 2003 season second on the team in scoring, with 10 goals and one assist for 21 points.

Lisausky, a senior forward from Morrisville, Pa., was honored after leading the 'Cats with 24 points, on 10 goals and four assists. Lisausky ranks 9th on VU's all-time points list.

The third forward chosen from Villanova is Oceanport, N.J. native Christina Lugones. She wound down an impressive career with 14 points on the season. Her five assists moved her into third place all-time at Villanova.

Also from Oceanport, N.J., junior back Vanessa Pizzulli was the final Wildcat chosen. In addition to her eight points, Pizzulli anchored a solid defense that allowed just 37 goals in 18 games. Pizzulli had seven defensive saves on the season, the sixth-best total in the nation.

This year's City Six MVP is Penn's Liz Lorelli, who helped lead the Quakers to the 2003 City Six Cup after going 5-0 against Philadelphia-area opponents.

Villanova finished 3-1 in City Six play. Head coach Joanie Milhous' Wildcats were 11-7 on the year, and earned a share of the Big East Conference regular season title.
