VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova men's soccer team has released its schedule for the upcoming fall season. The Wildcats will open the 2003 campaign on the road, August 29 against local rival, Drexel. The home opener is slated for September 5 against West Virginia. That contest also marks the 'Cats' Big East Conference opener.
Villanova will play a weekend tournament at the University of Pennsylvania from September 12-14. The 'Cats are scheduled to play Princeton and Pennsylvania, of the Ivy League.
This year's schedule includes four games against teams that finished in the 2002 NSCAA Top 25. Villanova will play No. 9 St. John's and No. 23 Penn in September, No. 5 UConn in October and No. 10 Penn State in November.
Head coach Larry Sullivan's squad, which returns seven starters from last year's team that finished 5-13, will wind down the regular season with their November 5 home game against the Nittany Lions.
