Bethlehem, PA - Lehigh received four goals from Emily Studdiford and another three from Barrie Cominsky as the Mountain Hawks picked up their first Patriot League win of the season on Saturday, a 12-10 victory over Villanova at the Ulrich Sports Complex. It was a back and forth affair all game long, but in the end Lehigh was able to pull out the victory. With the win, Lehigh improves to 4-7 on the season, 1-3 in Patriot League action, while the Wildcats fall to 1-11 on the season, 0-4 in league play.

Following a Villanova goal from Amy Rocap, Studdiford found the back of the net for the first time at the 24:59 mark of the first period to tie the game up at one. Villanova then answered back with a goal of its own to once again regain the lead, this time at 2-1, but the Mountain Hawks responded as Cominsky scored her first goal of the game at the 17:56 mark and the contest was knotted at two.

Sarah Starsoneck and Ella Studdiford then scored back to back goals and the Brown and White seized a two goal advantage at 4-2. But that two goal advantage would be short lived as Amy Rocap found the back of the net at the 10:37 mark and the Mountain Hawk lead was down to one at 4-3. Meredith Carso then put Lehigh back in front by a deuce as she scored with just over nine minutes remaining in the first half. But Villanova scored two quick goals and the game was knotted once again, this time at five.

Cominsky would net her second goal of the day with just 13 seconds left in the first stanza and Lehigh grabbed a 6-5 advantage heading into halftime. Lehigh outshot the Wildcats 18-13 in the opening 30 minutes of play.

Kristen Morea opened the second half scoring with a goal at the 28:25 clip and the contest was all tied up at six. But Emily Studdiford pulled the Lehigh squad back in front with a nifty goal at the 28:18 mark and once again the lead had switched hands. Villanova then put a scare into the Lehigh faithful as the Wildcats netted two consecutive goals to put them in front at 8-7, but that Lehigh deficit would be short lived as Emily Studdiford scored twice and Carso found the back of the net as well. With those scores the Mountain Hawks plunged in front by a count of 10-7.

Cominsky and Kellan Van Hoesen would add two late goals and the victory was Lehigh's.
