VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats moved into a pair of national top 25 polls this week after upending No. 6 ranked Boston College 2-1 on Sept. 19. Villanova (4-0-1) is ranked No. 21 in the NSCAA poll and No. 25 in the Soccer America poll.
The `Cats take a four game winning streak into Wednesday's match with Big East Conference rival Rutgers at the Villanova Soccer Complex. This is Villanova's best start to a season since joining the Big East Conference in 1985. The previous top start came in 1992, when the Wildcats went 4-1 in the opening five contests.
This marks the second consecutive year in which the Wildcats have earned a spot in the national rankings. Last year, Villanova climbed into the No. 25 position in the Soccer America poll in the final week of October.
