TOP STORIES
The Wildcats came within a point of upending their first top 10 team since November of 2002 (Michigan State) on Wednesday night at Boston College. However, the Eagles, ranked No. 9 in the current Associated Press and ESPN polls, scored the final seven points of regulation to escape with a 67-66 victory. Villanova's four losses in 2004-05 have been by a total margin of ten points. Three of the four games - Temple, Georgetown and Boston College - have been decided in the final possession.
Junior guard Randy Foye enjoyed a productive offensive night at Boston College, scoring 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field. The native of Newark, N.J. now has 983 points in his three seasons at Villanova. He could become the 47th player in school history to join the 1,000-point club. On Dec. 22, classmate Allan Ray moved into that exclusive fraternity.
Villanova is 2-4 in non-conference games played at the Wachovia Center since it opened in 1996.
Villanova returns for the second of its three games in Philadelphia on Wednesday evening when Notre Dame visits the Center. The two teams met on Jan. 8 and the Irish emerged with a 78-72 win at the Joyce Center. ESPN2 will televise the game.
