TOP STORIES

Villanova earned its most significant win in a decade on Saturday, bumping No. 2 ranked Kansas from the ranks of the unbeaten with an 83-62 triumph at the Wachovia Center. It was the highest ranked team the Wildcats had defeated since Feb. 18, 1995, when Villanova defeated the University of Connecticut 96-73 in Storrs. The win was also VU's first over a top 10 team since a November 2002 victory over No. 9 Michigan State.

Junior guard Randy Foye scored seven points in the win over the Jayhawks and now has 990 points during his three seasons in a Wildcat uniform. Foye could become the 47th player in Villanova history to join the 1,000 point club and the second this season. On Dec. 22, Allan Ray notched his 1,000th point on a 3-point basket in the second half against Albany.

Notre Dame recorded its first Big East victory over the Wildcats at the Wachovia Center last season and added another win back on Jan. 8 at the Joyce Center. Prior to that, Villanova had captured all eight meetings between the schools since Notre Dame joined the Big East in 1995-96.

Next up for the `Cats is a Saturday matinee at Rutgers. Tipoff is set for noon.
