TOP STORIES

The three point shot once again played an important role in a Villanova victory on Wednesday night. The Wildcats were 8-of-17 (.471) from beyond the 3-point arc in a 76-70 win over No. 3 ranked Boston College at the Pavilion. It marked the 13th time in 24 outings that the `Cats have converted 40 percent or better from beyond the arc. VU is 12-1 (.923) in that circumstance.

This marks the fourth consecutive week in which Villanova is nationally ranked. The Wildcats are listed at No. 23 in the Associated Press poll (No. 25 last week) and No. 24 in the ESPN/USA Today poll. The win over Boston College was Villanova's fourth over a ranked opponent in 2004-05 and its second over a top three team (the `Cats downed No. 2 Kansas on Jan. 22).

Junior forward Curtis Sumpter's 3-point basket in the first half moved him over the 1,000 point threshold at Villanova. His 20 points against the Eagles leave him with 1,013 points.

Guard Tom Grace will be honored in Senior Night ceremonies prior to Wednesday's home final against Seton Hall at 7:35 p.m.
