Lowry Named Co-Big East Rookie of Week

Feb. 28, 2005

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova freshman guard Kyle Lowry (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty H.S.) was today named co-Big East Rookie of the Week for his efforts in helping lead the Wildcats to victories over No. 3 Boston College and Georgetown. Lowry shares the honor with Connecticut forward Rudy Gay.

With Mike Nardi sidelined by a sprained ankle, Lowry made his first two career starts last week. He scored 11 points, grabbed five rebounds and picked up three steals in the 76-70 triumph over the Eagles on Feb. 23. Lowry followed that with 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, seven assists and five rebounds while playing 37 minutes of Villanova's 67-56 victory over the Hoyas on Sunday.

Villanova (19-6 overall, 9-5 Big East) hosts Seton Hall in its final regular season home game this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Pavilion.
