VILLANOVA, Pa. - Senior forward Curtis Sumpter (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin High School) was examined today by the staff of Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala.
"Curtis' trip to Birmingham was positive as we anticipated," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "Curt is healing perfectly and is ahead of schedule in his recovery. No decisions have been made at this time and the doctors will continue to monitor his progress."
Sumpter remains sidelined indefinitely.
Sumpter originally suffered a torn ACL last March in Villanova's NCAA Tournament victory over Florida. He underwent surgery to repair the ligament in his left knee on April 15 and re-injured it in practice on Oct. 19. Dr. Andrews performed surgery on the knee on Nov. 15 in Birmingham.
