Foye and Ray Earn Most Outstanding Player Honors

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Seniors Randy Foye (Newark, N.J/East Side High School) and Allan Ray (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's High School) shared Villanova's Most Outstanding Player award, it was announced today. The awards were presented this evening as part of the 2006 Men's Basketball Banquet at the Pavilion.

Foye averaged 20.5 points and 5.8 rebounds for the Wildcats in 2005-06. Along the way he was named first team All-American by the Associated Press, United States Basketball Writers Association and The Sporting News as well as Big East Conference player of the year. Ray, meanwhile, averaged 18.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game and was a Naismith Award finalist as well as a third team Associated Press All-American.

Senior Jason Fraser (Amityville, N.Y./Amityville High School) is the winner of the Alexander Severance Award, presented annually to the Villanova basketball player whose hard work and dedication in the classroom demonstrated a commitment to reach his full potential. Juniors Will Sheridan (Bear, Del./Sanford School) and Mike Nardi (Linden, N.J./St. Patrick's High School) were named as co-recipients of the Jake Nevin Award, given each year to the Villanova player whose selflessness provided an outstanding example to his teammates.

Seniors Chris Charles (Milwaukee, Wisc./Crispus Attucks Youth Build) and Baker Dunleavy (Portland, Ore./Jesuit High School) were co-winners of the Villanova Basketball Award, presented to the Wildcat who best exemplifies the characteristics of a Villanova basketball player. Sophomore Kyle Lowry (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty High School) is the recipient of the Paul Arizin award, given to the athlete who demonstrates the most improvement in a season.

Other award winners included junior manager Courtney Scrib (Christopher M. Dincuff Award); alumnus William Finneran (Special Recognition Award) and alumnus Kerry Kittles (Alumni Appreciation Award).
