Villanova, Pa. - Senior captain Megan Foster (Berlin, N.J.) earned her 120th career point, leaving her three short of the top spot all-time in points at Villanova, as the Wildcats (3-2) fell 3-1 to the Dragons of Drexel University (4-0) this evening at Villanova Stadium.
Villanova freshman Emily Donaldson (Glassboro, N.J.) scored first after Foster took a shot, got her own rebound and dished it to Donaldson just 7:03 into the game.
Foster has 120 career points and would pass Nicole DiMaggio (1997-00), who finished her career with 122. Foster is also in second place all-time in career goals, with 50. She needs seven to pass DiMaggio (56) in that category as well.
'Nova and Drexel played a tight game into halftime, but the Dragons exploded offensively in the second half, aided by seven penalty corners to Villanova's two.
Drexel's Heather Bloemker scored on a corner at 39:26. Carolina Gibernau posted a goal after a broken play on a corner at 44:53, and Catherine Chiara took advantage of a turnover to take the ball in and loft it past senior goalie Alex Whalen (Basking Ridge, N.J.).
Whalen made a season-high nine stops in the cage for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats are idle until Saturday, September 9 when they travel to West Chester University to face #14 Iowa at 2:30 p.m.
