Villanova Places Six On National Academic Squad

March 6, 2007

Glen Allen, Va. - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association released the 2006 Division I National Academic Squad placing six Wildcats on the list. This honor recognizes student-athletes who have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 for the first semester of the 2006-07 academic year.

The senior class boasts the most recognitions with a total of three, with each student-athlete focusing on a different major. Lauren Campanelli, a biology major, makes her fourth appearance on this list and was also recently awarded the NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship for her academic excellence. This is the second consecutive year for Megan Foster, a communications major, who first received this recognition in 2005. Goalkeeper Erin Scott, majoring in education, rounds out the senior class making this her second year to accomplish this feat.

With this year's honor, lone junior class representative Megan Ryan, a psychology major, will have been honored in 2005 and 2006 for her excellence in the classroom. Allison Boris and Sam Coveleski, both majoring in biology, close out the six recipients for the 2006 fall semester.
