Riverside, Calif. - The most recent loss for the Villanova women's tennis team drops them to 0-3 on the season, as UC Riverside climbs to 6-4, already topping their win total from last season. The Highlanders swept five of six singles matches, while securing the point for the doubles matches to defeat Villanova 6-1.
Senior Candice Carlin was the big winner for Villanova, as she defeated UC Riverside's Erynne Oki in the first singles spot. Carlin managed a convincing 6-1 win in the first set and was awarded the Wildcats lone point after winning the second set 7-6.
Senior Leighann Reilly and sophomore Jaclyn Williamson combined to claim a victory over UC Riverside's H.R. Espiritu and Roxanne Plata in the second doubles spot by a score of 9-8. However, UC Riverside held off Villanova's offensive in both the first and third doubles spots to seal the point for the doubles matches.
Villanova looks to improve their spring season record as they face Lehigh at 2:30 p.m. on March 21.
