Seamon is Tabbed BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

Sept. 18, 2007

Sophomore midfielder Mike Seamon (Rahway, N.J./Union Catholic High School) picked up a pair of honors for his work last week in Philadelphia Soccer Seven victories over Saint Joseph's and Drexel. The BIG EAST Conference tabbed Seamon as its Offensive Player of the Week while the Soccer Seven named him its Player of the Week.

In a week, in which Villanova outscored its opponents by a combined 7-0, Seamon was at the center of the offensive efficiency. He scored a pair of goals in a 4-0 triumph over Saint Joseph's at the Soccer Complex on Sept. 12 and followed that two nights later with an electric performance at Drexel, notching two goals in the game's first 20 minutes. He nearly added to that total only to see his shot carom off the crossbar midway through the first half.

Seamon leads the Wildcats in scoring with five goals and one assist for 11 points. In the course of his time on the Main Line, Seamon, who led VU in points with nine in 2006, has delivered 20 points in 23 career contests.

Villanova (5-1-0) is idle until Friday when it opens BIG EAST action at the Soccer Complex against Marquette. It then hosts its annual Alumni Day at noon against Notre Dame on Sunday.
