April 2, 2008

BETHANY BEACH, Del. - The Wildcats, led by Junior Doug Stadler (Wexford, Pa.), brought home an 18th place finish in their trip to the George Washington Invite. Insufficient lighting during the second round of the tournament combined with bad weather the following day to allow for only nine holes of the third round to be played.

Only three strokes behind his Villanova teammate was freshman Conor Casey (Madison, N.J.), tied for 58th place. Casey shot 77 in the opening round, followed by an 83 in the second round and finished with a 38 in the third. Junior Brett Bergman (Pittsburgh, Pa.) ended the tournament tied for 80th with a score of 205. He was consistent shooting 82 in both opening rounds and 41 in the third to finish out the tournament.

Junior Andrew Alexander (Rochester, N.Y.) shot 85-90-46=221 to finish the tournament tied for 101st place. Teammate Junior Paul Sjoberg (Thief River Falls, Minn.) ended only one stroke behind Alexander in 103rd place with scores of 87-91-44.
