Final Stats

Villanova, Pa. - The Wildcats (4-1) suffered their first loss of the season Wednesday night at Villanova Stadium as they fell 3-1 to the Dragons (4-1). Junior Emily Donaldson (Glassboro, N.J.) had the only goal for Villanova.

The Wildcats, who had not allowed a goal in over 285 minutes, gave up their first goal of the season to Drexel's Jen Cairone 5:51 into the game. The Dragons remained on the attack early in the game, scoring again less than two minutes later with a goal off a corner by Amanda Kicera.

The Wildcats answered at 22:07 by with a goal by Donaldson. A corner shot by Sophomore Dana Ramsden (Woolwich Twp., N.J.) rebounded and Donaldson was able to put get the ball in the net for her second goal of the season.

Villanova, down 2-1 at the half, came back strong in the second period but they were unable to connect. To add to their lead, Drexel's Jen Cairone was able to tip the ball in on a pass at 59:47, for her second goal of the night.

With less than five minutes remaining in the game, Sophomore Meredith Rull (St. Louis, Mo.) made an excellent play as she recorded a defensive save. With a defender quickly approaching, Rull was able to knock the ball away keeping Drexel from scoring.

Although allowing three goals, sophomore goalkeeper Maura McCormick (Forty Fort, Pa.) had a season high six saves on the night. She has been a crucial part of the Wildcats early success, recording four shutouts to start the season and 12 saves in Villanova's first four games.

The Wildcats will play Brown Friday night at Villanova Stadium at 7 p.m.
