Ramsden's Game Winner Beats Rider After Time Expires

Sept. 3, 2008

Final Stats

Villanova, Pa. - The Wildcats (2-0) registered their second straight win Wednesday as they beat Rider (0-2) 1-0 at Villanova Stadium on sophomore Dana Ramsden's (Woolwich Twp, N.J.) game winning goal.

Ramsden recorded her second goal of the season in exciting fashion as a penalty corner was called as time expired in the game. With junior Emily Donaldson (Glassboro, N.J.) inserting the ball and freshman Abby Sordoni (Shavertown, Pa.) putting it in perfect location, both recorded assists on the play.

Until Ramsden's goal, the game had been a defensive battle. Sophomore Maura McCormick (Forty Fort, Pa.) recorded her second shutout of the season finishing the game with two saves, while the Villanova defense only allowed the Broncs six shots.

Rider goalie Lyndsie Johnson had four saves on Villanova's 15 shots and Tricia Crotty led the Broncs with three shots.

Ramsden, who is coming off a redshirt season, had one of two Villanova goals in their previous matchup against Bucknell and is proving to be an offensive force for the Wildcats.

Next, the Wildcats will take on LaSalle at Villanova Stadium on Friday September 5th at 7 p.m.
