Reilly and Ryan Provide Lessons for Boys and Girls Club

Sept. 8, 2009

Villanova, Pa. - On August 24th, Villanova golf coach Will Reilly and sophomore Eddie Ryan teamed up with the Northeast Philadelphia Boys and Girls Club to provide lessons on golfing through community enrichment. As part of the camp program of the First Tee of Montgomery Country, the program is designed to teach inner-city kids and teenagers life skills and enjoyment of nature through the game of golf.

Coach Reilly and Ryan spent time at Twining Valley Golf and Fitness Club, located in Dresher, Pennsylvania teaching soon-to-be golfers proper swing technique at the driving range. The two also aided in coaching program participants about golf through various aspects of the game, including putting, chipping, and navigating difficult course terrain.

As the executive director of the First Tee of Montgomery County, coach Reilly has initiated several programs aimed at teaching golf to various programs like the Boys and Girls Club.

"It's amazing what being outdoors and learning a new skill can do for kids. What was even more special was to watch how quickly they picked up the game. It really brought a new perspective to everyone who was involved" stated Reilly.

The Villanova golf team is back in action for the Fall 2009 season this weekend as they compete in the Navy Fall Classic in Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday, September 12th and Sunday, September 13th.
