THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The Villanova water polo team will be competing in the Cal Lutheran Invitational in Thousand Oaks, Calif. in the upcoming days. Complete coverage can be found here.

Cal Lutheran Box Score

The Villanova water polo team began play at the Cal Lutheran Invitational this morning, falling to the host institution 9-7 this morning. Senior Nicole Lum (Roseville, Calif) led the team with three goals while Katie Hannigan (Riverside, Conn.), Hannah Ishida (Honolulu, Hawaii), Kathleen Maloney (Chicago, Ill.) and Lauren Peachey (Harleysville, Pa.) all contributed scores in the defeat.

Freshman Sam Goff (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif) tallied three saves in the loss while CLU's Rachel Hahn captured six in the victory.

Fresno Pacific Box Score

McKenna Hinkle led the team with a hat trick while Katie Hannigan, Kathleen Maloney, Sarah Tennis and Maria Campanile all contributed scores, but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats fell to Fresno Pacific, 16-7.

Villanova netted three goals in the second and fourth quarters, but FPU went on to outscore VU in three of the four stanzas. FPU was led by the four goal performance of Michelle Kaplan.

Sam Goff tallied three saves in the defeat while FPU's Charissa Gurnea stopped 11 in the victory.

CIU Box Score

McKenna Hinkle and Nicole Lum each tallied two goals, but Concordia-Irvine topped the Wildcats, 5-4 on Saturday afternoon. Sam Goff made three stops in the loss while CIU's Biberston tallied 12 in the victory.

CIU's Alex Barnes led the team with two goals.

Pomona-Pitzer Box Score

Five different Wildcats tallied scores for Villanova: Hannah Ishida, McKenna Hinkle, Nicole Lum, Katie Hannigan and Kathleen Maloney, but the Wildcats fell to Pomona-Pitzer, 9-5.

Pomona-Pitzer was led by the five-goal performance of Tamara Perea.

Whittier Box Score

Nicole Lum tallied a hat trick and Sarah Armel netted one goal, but Villanova dropped an 11-4 decision to Whittier on Sunday morning at Oaks Christian High School in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

The Poets were led by the four goal performance of Xenia Castillo while six other athletes netted scores for Whittier.

LaVerne Box Score

Kathleen Maloney, Katie Hannigan and Nicole Lum each tallied two goals while Hannah Ishida added one of her own, but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats fell to La Verne, 9-7, in their final match of the Cal Lutheran Invitational.

Bethie Ross led La Verne with two goals while four others tallied scores in the victory.
