Vihlen Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior Nolan Vihlen (Germantown, Tenn.) has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the third week of the season, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Vihlen averaged a combined .656 face-off win percentage versus No. 16 Drexel and Fairfield for the week.

Against the Dragons, Vihlen won 11 of 19 attempts against the ninth best face-off specialist in the country and improved that performance to an impressive .733 win percentage against the Stags this past Saturday. The junior also captured eight ground balls for the week.

For the season, Vihlen boasts a .517 face-off win percentage and has collected nine ground balls on the season. This is the first conference award of his career.

Syracuse redshirt-junior Tim Desko was named BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week while Georgetown senior Jack Davis earned BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

After a three-game away series, No. 20 Villanova (3-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) returns to Villanova Stadium on Tuesday evening to face Penn State (1-2, 0-0 CAA) in a heated Pennsylvania rivalry. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

BIG EAST Honor Roll - Week 3

David Earl, Notre Dame Registered three points on two goals and an assist over No. 16 Drexel. Picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers.

Andrew Barton, Providence Had a hand in five of the six goals in a 6-5 win against Presbyterian. Assisted on four-straight goals as part of a 4-0 run for PC.

Chris Mattes, Rutgers Won 13-of-14 faceoffs in a win against St. Joseph's.

John Galloway, Syracuse Made nine saves in a 12-10 victory over top-ranked Virginia. Held the Cavaliers to 10 goals.

Nolan Vihlen, Villanova Collected eight ground balls and averaged a .656 faceoff winning percentage.
