BIG EAST Release
VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova's Matt Bell (Severna Park, Md.) and Brian Karalunas (Dewitt, N.Y.) have been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for their performances over the past week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Bell earns his first conference award in his career after a break-out week against Rutgers and Providence. Against the Scarlet Knights, Bell posted two goals and two ground balls and followed that performance with a career-high five points and three goals versus the Friars on Saturday afternoon. For the season, Bell has started every game for the Wildcats and posted 16 goals and 10 assists, good for 26 points.
Karalunas earns weekly accolades after capturing 12 ground balls and nine caused turnovers for the week. His six ground balls and six caused turnovers against PC led the Villanova defensive effort in the victory. For the season, Karalunas leads the team with 66 ground balls and 63 caused turnovers, leading the NCAA in the latter category.
The 10th-ranked Villanova Wildcats (11-3, 3-2) will conclude their regular season on May 7th when they travel to Georgetown to conclude BIG EAST action. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Multi-Sport Field.
