VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats will face another challenging mix of opponents in the 2011 men's soccer schedule announced today.
"Our 2011 schedule is one of the toughest schedules in the country," stated head coach Tom Carlin, who begins his fourth season at the helm in August. "It is highlighted by six teams who were in the 2010 NCAA TOURNAMENT, including Louisville, which advanced to the NCAA National Final. It also features 10 road games which start out on the west coast against Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara. Cal Poly and Santa Barbara are two of the best soccer crowds in the country so we are extremely excited to play in such great venues."
The Wildcats, who finished the 2010 campaign with an 8-8-3 mark, return nine starters, including eight of its top nine scorers. In addition, senior goalie Chris Bresnahan, a four-year starter, also returns.
Villanova opens the campaign with a pair of home dates against Manhattan (Aug. 26) and Drexel (Aug. 31) at the West Campus Soccer Complex. It opens BIG EAST play at home on Sept. 24 against Georgetown.
