PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior midfielder Antonio Aguilar wins BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after helping the DePaul men's soccer team to a 3-1 win against Oakland, while West Virginia's Eric Schoenle earns BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. USF's Chris Blais is honored as the first BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week of the season in his first start for the Bulls and freshman forward Aaron Dennis, from Villanova, takes home BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors.
Aguilar played a part in all three of the Blue Demons' goals against Oakland, a 2010 NCAA Championship participant. Aguilar scored a pair of unassisted goals, each from 35 yards out, and assisted on the third goal to help DePaul to a season-opening win.
Schoenle helped to preserve a 1-0 win for the Mountaineers against preseason No. 22/11 Virginia. He helped to hold Virginia, which finished with no shots on goal, to only three shots. He also scored the game's only goal with three seconds left in the first half.
Blais made seven saves in USF's 2-0 shutout win at preseason No. RV/13 Wake Forest. He played all 90 minutes in goal in his first start for USF. The loss for Wake Forest was its first home loss in August in program history.
Dennis scored both goals in Villanova's season-opening win 2-0 victory against Manhattan.
