Final Tournament Brackets

LEWISBURG, Pa.--The final day of the Bucknell Invitational at the Varsity Tennis Courts saw Villanova go undefeated in five singles matches on Sunday afternoon. The results included freshman Sydney West and sophomore Anne Cognetti (Waverly, Pa.) winning the titles in the "B" and "C" singles draws, respectively.

West made her collegiate debut this past weekend by going 4-0 in singles play, including a straight-sets 6-2, 6-3 victory over Olivia Ott of Loyola (Md.) in the championship match of the "B" draw. Cognetti was likewise unbeaten in the "C" singles draw, going 3-0 and beating Loyola's Jackie Lionetta (6-2, 7-6) in the finals on Sunday.

The other victories for the Wildcats on Sunday came in the consolation brackets of all three singles draws. Sophomore Mikelle Mancini (Salt Lake City, Utah) defeated Elena Vidrascu of tournament host Bucknell in a tiebreaker, winning 6-7, 6-4 (10-6) in the "A" singles draw.

Freshman Kate Pettee defeated Jen Bush of Bucknell (6-2, 6-4) in the "B" singles draw and classmate Aurora McQuade topped Danielle Nguyen (Mount St. Mary's) in the "C" singles draw (6-3, 6-3).

The first weekend of the fall season is now in the books and Villanova will have a one-week break before returning to action in the SJU Invitational at Saint Joseph's from September 30-October 2 in Philadelphia.
