SPRING CITY, Pa. - Villanova (1-1) applied offensive pressure throughout the non-conference game on Friday afternoon, but were unable to overcome a first-half goal by Cornell (1-0) as the Wildcats fell 1-0 in a game played at The Training Center in Spring City.
Villanova applied consistent pressure throughout the game, and most notably in the first half when the Wildcats had three corners, eleven shots, including six on net, but were unable to get it past Cornell goalie Carolyn Horner.
Cornell scored the lone goal of the match in the 20th minute off a corner that Genevieve Collins put in the back of the net past goalie Megan Goelz (Yardley, Pa.).
