BIG EAST Week Four Release
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Villanova senior Chris Creighton (West Chester, Pa.) has been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, while junior Max Hart (Bethesda, Md.) has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Notre Dame's Jim Marlatt earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week accolades for the fourth week of conference awards.
Creighton earns Defensive Player of the Week honors after collecting a career-high seven ground balls and four caused turnovers in Villanova's dramatic 8-7 victory over Penn. Creighton led a solid defensive effort that contributed to a 6-3 Wildcat run in the second half, including a 4-1 run in the fourth quarter. On the year, the senior close defenseman has tallied 13 ground balls and a team-high 11 caused turnovers.
Hart earns his first conference accolade after tallying a career-high three goals including the game-tying and game-winning scores with less than 70 seconds remaining in regulation vs. Penn. With one second on the clock, the midfielder solidified Villanova's victory by taking a shot from 35 yards out to beat the Quaker goalkeeper. On the year, Hart has tallied six goals and two assists
The Wildcats also jumped in both the USILA Coaches and Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Polls to No. 10 nationally after being ranked 12th and 13th last week.
Villanova will host No. 16 Princeton on Tuesday, March 13th in Villanova Stadium. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
