BIG EAST Release Week 7
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Villanova junior Will Casertano (Millbrook, N.Y.) and sophomore Thomas Croonquist (North Caldwell, N.J.) have both been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the seventh week of the season as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Casertano led the Wildcats with three goals and an assist in a 13-8 loss at No. 18 Penn State last weekend. For the season, the attackman leads the team with 28 points via 13 goals and 15 assists and is second in the BIG EAST averaging 3.11 points per game. This is Casertano's first BIG EAST award of the season and the second of his career.
Croonquist earns his first career BIG EAST Honor Roll laurels after winning 11-of-15 (73%) faceoff's against the Nittany Lions. For the season, the sophomore specialist has won 85-of-140 (60%) attempts from the X and currently ranks 12th in the NCAA with a .607 faceoff win percentage.
Also released today, the Wildcats have fallen to No. 13 in the USILA Coaches and No. 18 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media polls after being upset by Penn State 13-8 on Saturday.
The Wildcats return to BIG EAST competition on Wednesday, April 4th to host No. 20 Georgetown at 7 p.m. in Villanova Stadium.
