The Villanova Wildcats (5-10, 2-2 BIG EAST) defeated #12 Old Dominion 2-1 Friday afternoon.
After an Old Dominion dominated first half, sophomore Francesca Bello got the Wildcats on the board after a pass from Courtney Devine. Bello was one on one with the Old Dominion goalkeeper, and was able to get the ball passed her and into the back of the net 13 minutes into the second half.
It was Bello again 10 minutes later who was able to break away down the field and hit a cross shot into the back of the goal to make the Wildcats lead 2-0.
With 10 minutes remaining in regulation Old Dominion got up on the board off a penalty corner. Right off the pass in Emily Harting was able to score the Monarchs only goal of the game.
With no time left on the board Old Dominion was awarded a penalty corner, which lead to three more to follow but the Wildcats played strong defense and did not let the Monarchs score.
Freshman goalkeeper Erika Miller finished the day with six saves, half of those coming in the second half.
The Wildcats will play there last regular season home game next Saturday October 31st at 12 PM vs. Temple.
